Conditions of Sale - Terms
- Prices subject to change without notice.
- Cash, cheque, Visa or MasterCard should accompany new accounts and retail orders. Cheques are preferred.
- 30 day credit is available to established wholesale clients at our discretion.
- Accounts over 30 days will be charged 2% interest per month.
- Any settlements on outstanding accounts will be done in Ontario courts.
- A charge of $ 20.00 will be added to all NSF cheques returned to us.
Conditions of Sale - for Shipments (Retail and Wholesale)
- Packing expenses are at cost, F.O.B. Waterdown.
- For large shipments we deliver at cost to many areas of Canada and the USA by refrigerated truck so stock will arrive in excellent condition.
- Claims for damage or loss of stock in shipping should be made with the carrier.
- All claims must be made within 10 days after receipt of shipment.
- With our new temperature and moisture-controlled warehouse we can now ship all year providing our temperatures are above freezing.
- We guarantee our plants to leave in excellent condition, but once they are in the hands of a carrier, they are beyond our control.
- During winter months, exact times for shipping are at our discretion, due to weather conditions.
- Small shipments to the USA and Europe are supplied with complete documentation at cost.
- USA orders are quoted in US dollars and are to be paid in US funds. This helps to cover the extra cost of inspection and shipping across the border. Shipping and handling rates are given on the order form. (Please see our FAQ for further explanation)
- We prefer to ship small orders by UPS or first class/air mail and large orders with our refrigerated truck.
- Insurance is available on request.
Hortico's Replacement Policy
- We guarantee our stock to leave our premises in good condition.
- We give no warranty, expressed or implied as to the productivity or performance of any nursery stock that we sell.
- We give no credit for plants that fail due to adverse weather conditions, insufficient care, or lack of experience on the part of the customer or his personnel, as these factors are beyond our control.
- We give no guarantee over winter.
- We warrant our stock to be true to name, If any should prove not to be true, we will replace it with the correct stock, no substitutes.
- In no case will we be held responsible for any amount greater than originally received. Shipping costs for any replacements are to be paid by the customer prior to shipping.
- Claims for plants must be made within 10 days of receipt of your order.
Off-Season Ordering and Shipping
- With our new temperature and moisture-controlled warehouse we can now ship all year providing our temperatures are above freezing.
- We can accept orders for pickup during any season.
- We encourage shipping at certain times of the year because there is less risk of frost or goods being dehydrated and the goods are fresh from harvest etc. The goods are guaranteed true to name and guaranteed to leave Hortico in good order, but the transit and care thereafter is the responsiblity of the customer. Since we are dealing with live goods the customer is responsible to making a claim with the 'carrier' if they are shipped and arrive in poor condition. Shipping insurance can generally be purchased.
Availability: The web site is updated with inventory at the beginning of the season, therefore at the end of the season inventory may be short on some varieties.
Changes or Additions to Retail Orders by mail, fax, or telephone call will be accepted. However, if your order is already being processed, we cannot guarantee that your changes will be made before shipping, and may become a new order, reflecting shipping costs accordingly.
Pick Up Orders - Please submit your order, allowing for time, so we can have your order ready when you need it. Call ahead to pre-arrange a pick up date and time, especially during the busy spring season, to avoid delays. Your order can be picked up at our shipping yard Monday through Saturday, 7:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m., from the end of March to June. July through December hours are 7:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Plant Grade - Our preference is to ship No.1 grade plants (3 branch). In the case the No.1 grade plant is sold out a grade No. 1.5 (2 branch) will be shipped in its place and receive a discounted price unless the customer specifies otherwise.
