About SSL and Secure Ordering

Hortico now has secure ordering using industry standard SSL (Secure Sockets Layer). Secure ordering uses SSL to encrypt information passing between your browser and our webserver. Names, addresses, and credit card numbers are made much safer and much more difficult to intercept.

You can confirm that your browser is using SSL on our secure ordering pages by looking for a small closed lock symbol, generally in the status bar at the bottom of your browser window. If you click on that lock, it will bring up status and you can check the encryption certificate. If the lock is unlocked, the current page is not encrypted. The URL's of secure pages should also begin with https:// rather than http://

If your browser doesn't support SSL, you may use the non-secure ordering. This method of passing data into our database is generally unlikely to be intercepted, and is more secure than email. However, there are several alternative methods by which you can pay for your order if you are uncomfortable sending information this way.
